If you're like me, sometimes you're eating a Jolly Rancher and thinking, why can't this dissolve on my tongue more quickly? Why doesn't it crumble when I bite down on it like Cap'n Crunch's OOPS! All BerriesĀ®? Well, it's now possible! Jolly Rancher Freeze Dried is the answer to both those questions and more!
When I first tried one of these large jollies, it really did feel like I was popping one of the Cap'n's fruity balls into my mouth. It was exactly the same memorable texture, but somehow pure sugar and no grain. (I know some of the celiacs among you are smacking your lips!) These things dissolve almost instantly in your mouth, releasing a bitter-sweet, tangy, chemical flavor that's somehow odd and familiar at the same time. But if you do choose to bite down before it dissapears completely, you are still rewarded with the gummy, tooth-sticking feeling anyone who has attempted to chew a traditional Jolly Rancher is familiar with.
My only complaint is that they missed out on a potential Cap'n Crunch collaboration with some "Jolly" roger flag branding and a new sugar-crazed pirate mascot to complete the tie-in. But perhaps Quaker Oats was unwilling to play "balls."
Jolly Rancher Freeze Dried comes in a generous box of 6 - 20 oz bags for $7.94 at Costco, but if your family is like mine, you might want to grab a few boxes. These things disappear quickly!
